Nicholas
and Alexandra had been married just a few
short weeks after his father's death, and it
was necessary that he have an Easter gift for
her. They were now the Tsar and Tsarina of
all Russia and whatever had been given her
prior to their ascension, the Easter that was
approaching would be his first Easter gift
to her as the Tsar. It was imperative that
it be spectacular. Working under enormous pressure
because of time constraints, Fabergé brought
forth this exquisite treasure.
The
egg was originally made in translucent strawberry
red enamel over a striated guilloché
design with a cream velvet lining in which sat
a golden yellow Rosebud; the Rosebud with a
very fine invisible hinge opened to reveal the
surprise --- a miniature Imperial Crown completely
set with diamonds. Sometime during the early
part of the Revolution when the Egg was in the
hands of the revolutionaries, the crown disappeared.
Today Fabergé has placed a delicate chain
carrying a tiny Egg, a replica of this particular
egg, inside of the Yellow Rose. The pendant
has a large table cut crystal in its base. The
whole thing sits on a four-legged display stand.
All of the metal work is sterling silver plated
in 24 karat gold.
Retail: $750.00. Our price: $674.90.
The Egg comes to you in a handsome velvet case
with documentation.
This Egg is available in Deep Blue, Emerald as
shown below, Strawberry, and Coronation Gold.
NOTE: This Egg is NOT available in Pale
Blue as shown above.
